In recent years the National Buffalo Foundation’s (NBF) Board of Directors have focused on restructuring the organization and on the expansion of its financial resources. This new focus affords the Foundation to support influential projects that positively impact the future of the bison.

NBF has gifted a diversity of sponsorships and grants that support the Foundation’s mission and vision. Some of the projects are depicted in the below pictorial.

Among the foundation’s current projects is the Bison Exhibit – a traveling exhibit exploring the past, present and future of this great North American animal. Learn more at

North Star Bison – March 6-9, 2017  Registration Deadline February 17:

North Star Bison owns only 1,200 acres yet they run over 600 bison year round. Their operation is located in northern Wisconsin where rainfall is plentiful.  The Graese family have been practicing Holistic Management for 20 years. Learn how they converted worn-out farm ground to very productive pasture.  At this seminar, you can learn how to manage small farms with bison.  Limited to 25 students.

Durham Ranch – February 20-23, 2017: Registration Deadline January 31:

Durham Ranch operates on approximately 55,000 acres involving over 2,000 head of bison.  The ranch has been practicing Holistic Management for 30 years.  Learn how you can manage a large number of bison on a fairly arid landscape.  Average precipitation on this ranch is 12-14 inches in an area known as the Great Plains – short grass prairie.  See how their innovative management has allowed them to improve the production of the land and support this large bison herd with nominal amounts of supplemental feed year round.  Limited to 15 students.
