Foundations
The National Bison Association assists in the operations of two independent 501c (3), charitable buffalo foundations, the National Buffalo Foundation and the Throlson American Bison Foundation. Donations to either of these foundations are tax-deductible and ensure the continued restoration of the American Bison through education and credible research efforts.
The National Buffalo Foundation
The National Buffalo Foundation was founded in 1995 at the time of the merger of the National and American Bison Associations, and was formed to help ensure the future for this magnificent animal and to help continue its remarkable recovery in the 21st century. Planned Giving
The National Buffalo Foundation also manages the American Bison Legacy Fund. Established in 2006, this planned giving program offers individuals the opportunity a sound investment opportunity for those who want to support the continued restoration of the American bison, through public education and credible research.

Throlson American Bison Foundation
The mission of the Throlson American Bison Foundation is to promote bison research, support scholarship opportunities, promote public education on bison, and to promote bison as an agricultural industry.

This program offers the trailblazers and pioneers of this industry the opportunity to sustain education, marketing and research efforts through an array of investment options. Gift giving options include real estate, bequests, stocks/bonds, and retirement, among others.
Scholarships
The Throlson American Bison Foundation Scholarship program has been established to recognize, encourage and promote leadership among future bison industry professionals. Each fall, the Throlson American Bison Foundation will award three scholarships to outstanding college or graduate students studying bison or fields related to the bison industry.
