Durham Ranch – Discover the Keys to Successful Bison and Land Management Seminar

Event Date:
02/07/2012 - 02/10/2012

At this year’s summer conference, Roland Kroos gave a dynamic presentation to the Bison 101 class titled “Making a Profit with Bison.”   That even though the bison industry is seeing record prices and demand of its meat products, it takes more than luck to be truly profitable today.  It takes careful planning and monitoring, understanding the bison’s relationship with the land, and making very good decisions.

In Roland’s short presentation he shared many exciting and informative ideas on how to be successful and profitable raising bison.  If you were not able to attend his presentation or would like more information, you have another opportunity to learn more.    On February 7-10, 2012 the Durham Ranch will be hosting a four-day seminar titled Discover the Keys to Successful Bison and Land Management.

Those who attend this seminar will be introduced to Holistic Management. This process teaches you how to increase profitability and productivity through higher stocking rates, reduce weeds, decrease erosion by creating healthy landscapes, and abundant wildlife.  Learn how bison graze plants and how you can mimic the herds of old and improve your pasture management.

The Durham Ranch has been practicing Holistic Management for almost 25 years.  John Flocchini (ranch manager) & Pat Thomson (bison herd manager) will be available to answer questions and describe how they have practiced Holistic Management.  The Durham Ranch was featured in the PBS documentary released in May 2009 titled Healing the Earth: The First Millimeter.

This seminar will be limited to 15 participants.  Register early, this seminar has sold out the last two years.  For more information contact Roland Kroos (406) 522-3862 or e-mail kroosing@msn.com.
