In recent years the National Buffalo Foundation’s (NBF) Board of Directors have focused on restructuring the organization and on the expansion of its financial resources. This new focus affords the Foundation to support influential projects that positively impact the future of the bison.
NBF has gifted a diversity of sponsorships and grants that support the Foundation’s mission and vision. Some of the projects are depicted in the below pictorial.
Grant and sponsorship requests that support the Foundation’s mission are welcomed and should be directed to one the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Buffalo Hall of Fame
The purpose of the Hall of Fame, which began in 1980, is to honor those who have done the most for the North American Buffalo, inclusive of both historic individuals as well as those today, which through their dedication and conscious effort further the restoration of bison.
The administration of the Hall of Fame transitioned to the NBF when the American Bison Association and the National Buffalo Association merged and the foundation was created.
The Hall of Fame is displayed and maintained in Jamestown, North Dakota at the National Buffalo Museum where individual plaques honoring each inductee, along with physical memorabilia relating to each, can be viewed by the many museum visitors.
Gold Trophy Junior Judging Premier Sponsor
In 2009, the NBF partnered with the NBA’s Junior Judging contest to sponsor a $1000 scholarship to a higher education institution for the top scoring individual along with sponsoring individual and team competition plaques. This new NBA program has meshed well with NBF’s commitment to youth education and with anticipation that some participants will choose to become buffalo producers due to their positive experience with the buffalo industry.
The National Buffalo Foundation manages the planned giving Bison Legacy Fund. This program offers individuals the opportunity of a sound investment opportunity for those who wish to support the continued restoration of the American bison, through public education and credible research.
